Just out of interest, I was wondering how soon after you actually swallow food does it begin to be absorbed as calories consumed?

Thanks

Well I've heard a lot of people say half an hour, but really I think it depends on how much you eat. If you have like one bite of food on an empty stomach, obviously that will be fully absorbed much quicker than a whole meal would be. Put it this way, in the past I've eaten and purged about an hour later, and still managed to purge quite a lot of food. But iof you're aiming to get rid of as many calories as possible, the sooner the better.

I'm trying to recover from bulimia, so my doctor has actually placed me on a medication to help my food digest faster. If your bulimic after a whlie your intestines will eventually stop working correctly and they will need medication to be stimulated. Depending on how long youve been purging for, theres been cases of people being able to purge food they ate 24 hour prior. When i eat now my stomach empties so slowly i feel as full as i did when i ate about three hours later.. so it really depends.

well im quoting a nutrishinolist which told me that when you eat food the first things to be absorbed are the unhealthy things such as fats, sugar, cholestoral and so on, so by the time you purge you will only be purging protien .
