The Legend of Zelda: The Movie

Does anybody know if a Movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is in the making?
I think that The Legend of Zelda Universe has all the ingredients to make a very good movie, with lots of action, humor, battles, SFX, strange creatures, lots of different environments and so on ...
I would love to see it on the big screen, however, I am still a bit afraid because Hollywood has yet to demonstrate proficiency at adapting video games. I hope if it's done one day, they won't mess it all up.
I think the best avenue would be if they were to let the creators of Zelda make the movie themselves, or at least participate to a large extent, as was done for Final Fantasy.
If you were asked, which would you want? The adaptation of an already existing story of Zelda, or a new one combining all the elements?

Well, I thought until recently that this was the case. However an error in a Japanese (I think) translation meant that the article said there were currently NO plans for a movie, not that there ARE currently plans for one. An easy enough error I guess...
As to whether or not a movie SHOULD be made, I'm sitting on the fence. On the one hand, it would be great to see the series played out in other media form, but there are some issues that would need to be addressed. First of all, Link doesn't talk in the games - a feature I personally like. But how would a movie be able to manage if the main character cannot speak? It would probably be quite awkward, relying heavily on facial expressions. There would definately be some sort of uproar among the fanbase if he was given a voice...
Secondly, this seems a bad move for a quality series to take when past experiences with other game-movie transits are looked at. The best examples can give are the Final Fantasy and Super Mario Bros. franchises. Both, for me at least, superlative gaming franchises that have had absolutely apalling film debuts.
Of course, I would love a Zelda Movie if it was done right. However, seeing as peoples perceptions of right and wrong can differ greatly, this would be a next to impossible achievement.
Therefore my ultimate answer had to be 'No', but if one were to be made it should be an original storyline and not an adaptation of a game as it could dampen the memories of the game in question if it were not a success. I simply wouldn't deem an Ocarina of Time film for example a worthy attempt as it can never hope to give the same experince to the fans that the game itself did.
Well, that my far too long opinion on the matter anyway!

Good point! To tell you the truth I didn't think about that... 
Did you see the animated series? I didn't , but I guess Link was speaking in it.

Personnaly I liked very much the Final Fantasy movie  ... but I never played the video games.
