Hi everyone

I have never considered myself to be bulimic as I only purge out small amounts of what I eat for dinner. But I do it each day. I am starting to wonder if I have developed an ed, but all the websites say that bulimics binge before purging.

In my case I use those meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch and then a small low fat dinner early in the evening. I then purge what I can from that dinner. I've been doing this for about 6 months and I am in the healthy weight range for my height.

Any ideas? Idea

Thanks

Firstly, bulimia's not like anorexia in that you can be classed as bulimic at any weight.

But yes, bulimia isn't just purging but bingeing and purging. It's medical definition is "An eating disorder characterized by episodes of secretive excessive eating (binge-eating) followed by inappropriate methods of weight control, such as self-induced vomiting (purging), abuse of laxatives and diuretics, or excessive exercise"

A lot of people have 'anorexia with bulimic tendencies' which is probably what you have, because you try to limit what you eat / diet. If someone was eating normally but purging it would probably be called ED-NOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified).

Hope this helps Smile

Hi, yes thats how i started, i mega dieted, then even felt guilty of thingd like jacket potatoes, then would be sick, then it moved onto being sick after id had wot i class as an unhealthy high cal meal, but it probably would just be a regular meal like pub grub or a pizza, then occasionally have a mad blow out like a tub of ice cream, or one to many chocolate bars, then be sick, i know there's many names for different variations of ed's, but in my eyes it all means the same, i do think both disorders are linked as usually most people with one or the other have actually tried both, if you need to chat, i've totally been in your shoes, i certainly wont judge, feel free to post me,
lol
